There are many great teachers out there, but how can we expect them to do great work when the education system is this bad?

/ Standardised tests that test for outdated knowledge.

/ School’s really about memorisation and compliance.

/ School rewards students for the wrong behaviour.

/ Teachers have unrealistic workload.

/ And they are burnt out.

/ People thought the pandemic will bring about school reform, but things have taken a turn for the worse.

/ School’s still helping students build resumes through GPAs when employers are looking for what they can do.

/ School doesn’t teach kids how to learn anything on their own.

/ School prep students to follow instructions their entire life, but real life doesn’t come with an instruction manual.

/ Most of all, kids don’t feel supported by the education system, in and outside of school. Especially in the middle of a pandemic.

I believe many teachers do what they do because they want to make a difference to somebody’s life. But they are shackled by the system. When the system’s ready, teachers will be ready.
